This short course covers intensive farming of fish in tanks using recirculation of water through filters to minimise water use. |
This is a practical, hands - on workshop delivered by professionals from the industry and complements the certificate courses for those who have an interest in recirculation technology.
A commercial scale, intensive tank system is in operation at Natfish and is used for the workshop.
Topics covered include:
Fish farming systems and components such as solids filters, biological filters, foam fractionators, ozone units, UV units etc, operation and maintenance, maintaining water quality, choosing a suitable species, stocking, feeding and monitoring the growth of the crop and keeping them healthy. Harvesting, marketing and Government regulations and economics are also reviewed.
