Course Information

Fish Hooks You will learn boat handling, advanced fishing techniques, about weather, safety and the regulatory and environmental responsibilities associated with fishing.

Completion of the Certificate III also includes the following certification:

  • General Purpose Deckhand - *note students must apply direct to NSW Maritime for this qualification after completing the required modules during the course
  • Senior First Aid certificate

Study load

This course can be studied full time by distane education over 2 semesters (1 year). Completion will require attendance at five workshop blocks, and approximately 10 hours per week home study using comprehensive course workbooks. Support is available from teaching staff on a free call number or by e-mail. Additional study materials are available on the Internet.

Entry requirements

There are no formal educational entry requirements, however as a major component of the courses is completed by distance education you will need to be self motivated and have good literacy skills.
